How can anyone who first saw these episodes as a child (like me) not love them!!! Sure, is the animation out-of-date and pretty much second rate at this point? Yes. Are the stories as good as they good be? Probably not. Are the voice overs lame, considering that you can tell when an actor's voices are reused for multiple characters? Yes. But all of that doesn't matter. These episodes are simply fabulous and for their time, they were the best thing out there for kids. And as a middle-age adult, the chance to relive them is priceless and so worth it!The episodes on this series are laid out with 4 segments. The first is a short episode with the core super friends (Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Batman/Robin), and the second one is a short adventure with the Wonder Twins. The third episode is the longest of the collection and often the highlight of the show. The final episode usually features one of the core super friends and a guest star, like Rima, The Atom and Apache Chief. Each episode is about 45 minutes long, so one can guess that at the time, there were probably enough commercials to make each episode last one hour. There are also short segments on safety, decoding a word, and crafts. All in all, this a great collection of episodes of one of the more interesting character groups in the history of television.A few fun things are noticed when you watch the shows. First of all, Batman and Robin always seem to have some sort of device or vehicle which can be used in the episode (like the 'Bat Submarine'). Second of all, who can forget the narration done by Bill Woodson, who at 95 is still alive and going strong!!! Remember the words "Later...at the hall of justice..." Third of all, the music is great...and while the same tunes are played in each episode, they have never been better! Finally, the best and most exciting part of these episodes for me are....the Wonder Twins!! I know they are corny and the fact that a 45 year old man would find these characters exciting is pretty lame, but they are so cool! Of all of my childhood memories of TV programs, the phrase "Wonder Twin powers...activate!" is probably one of the top ones, right up there with "Space the Final Frontier"! I wonder if anyone has ever counted the number of different things that Zan and Jayna were transformed into during their travels? If you just watch these to enjoy them, and not overanalyze them, you will have a great time. I, for one, am thrilled with the set, and have ordered all the other ones available. I am even starting to show these to my kids! They think that my fascination with the Wonder Twins is a bit lame, but what do I do that they don't think is lame? Enjoy!
