I absolutely love this game. First disclaimer, this game is not a substitute for an actual dog. That said, this game is great for playing with a virtual dog, and I consider this to be a vast improvement over the Nintendogs games that were the last version of the series I played (Yes, I didn't realize there were more until the goldbox version, I'm a bit silly at times). So, first off you eventually are able to unlock all the different breeds from all three versions of this series, and in the Golden Retriever version, you start out with the ability to get a Golden Retriever, a Shiba Inu, a Beagle as well as a few others. I picked a Shiba Inu, and began playing with her. You can do several things with your dog, you can brush the pup, feed it, water it, throw toys for it, teach it tricks and pet it, and my favorite part, take the pup for a walk or enter it in competitions. More content opens up as you take your pup for walks, I was only able to take my pups down the basic walks at first, but she was able to go other places later on (some of which are good for training for the competitions). There are three competitions, and winning them both gives you items and unlocks content. I'll leave the rest of the game for you to enjoy and explore.Overall I found this game to be a lot of fun, though if you aren't interested in playing with virtual puppies (or kitties) this probably isn't the game for you.If you found this review useful, please let me know by clicking the helpful button.
